Even so, it's not just the viewpoints themselves that are worthwhile, the journey to reach them is also a marvel that you’ll undoubtedly enjoy just as much, if not more, than the views themselves. We’re going to tell you about some of the routes that shouldn’t be missed so that you can start to plan your trip.

Mirador del Roque Nublo, Gran Canaria
The Roque Nublo is one of the most emblematic points of the island, a must if you're visiting the island of Gran Canaria. To reach the viewpoint it’s a three-hour walk through an area that’s been designated a rural park, and as you ascend, you’ll cross a thick forest of Canary Pine. When you reach the top, the vegetation gives way to an area of rock. From up on high the views are magnificent; you can even see Mount Teide itself on the island of Tenerife.

Mirador de Chipeque, Tenerife
From this viewpoint you can see one of the most beautiful views in the Canaries, the magnificent sea of clouds. It’s so high that you’re above the clouds gazing out over an endless mantle of soft whiteness. To get here you need to take the Esperanza road, a narrow, surfaced road surrounded by nature where you’ll find several viewpoints. From here you’ll also be able to see Mount Teide in the distance, and the view at sunset is a real picture postcard one.

Mirador de los Roques, La Gomera
Los roques are one of the most characteristic rock formations in all of the Canary Islands, and here in La Gomera you’ll find five of them that appear to stand guard over one of the most beautiful places on the island, the Garajonay National Park. To reach this viewpoint, you need to drive down a road that runs through thick forest, and as you climb upwards to a height of around 1,115 metres you’ll be able to admire the impressive roques and the intense greens of the vegetation.

Mirador del Roque de los Muchachos, La Palma
This could be the most famous viewpoint in La Palma. It’s located at over 2,400 metres, the island’s highest point, and is easily reached by car. From here you can enjoy views over the Caldera de Taburiente National Park, which you can drive across on the way. This is a place that you can enjoy 24 hours a day, as when night falls the stars come out, lighting up the sky almost as if by magic - a taste of perfection. For this reason, one of the two astrophysical observatories in the Canary Islands is located at the Roque de los Muchachos. You’ll never before have seen so many stars.

Mirador Faro de Orchilla, El Hierro
This lighthouse is known as the lighthouse at the end of the world, as it’s located at Punta Orchilla, the westernmost point of the entire European continent. And it was also where Ptolemy situated the origin of world cartography, placing the zero meridian there. To get to the viewpoint you need to take a narrow road that runs between volcanic mountains and cliffs and offers some unforgettable views.
